I drove on without the airconditioner running (gotta save that gas) listening intently to the program currently on the radio which happened to be ,as it usually was on the drive home from work,Crosstalk with Rich Agazino. As Rich and his guest continued to pound home that fact that resposibility for all of the worlds problem were to be placed squarely on the ,apparently already slumping, shoulders of the christians of this age. I continued to ponder ,in astonishment, the fact that, according to Rich and his guest, there were no christians praying for the condition of this world or ,by logical reasoning, the presumably few that were praying (my mother and father along with their small prayer group from their church included)were having no affect at all.I refused to believe that there were no other christians in this counry praying for this troubled world.Did Rich and his guest mean to insinuate that God could only operate with a particular level of prayer and supplication offered? Was he trying to tell us in radioland that if there are a small nunmber of christians praying that he will not answer their prayers, that those prayers are meaningless unless the whole christian population is simultaneously praying for the same cause? in my heart i was outraged because i could not believe that a sincere and fearless prayer warrior, such as my mother, was being ignored by her God.Weren't we talking about the God that was able to save a whole country because of the prayers of one man? As this ran through my mind like a steel rake,Rich was cutoff in mid sentence, and replaced with a message that,in my mind, was seemingly as if someone had change the radio to my own private radio program broadcast directly from Gods plush studio to my not so plush automobile. "So, you want to see the 'save a country with the prayers of one man' trick again huh?" As if hearin my own private radio program in my car was something that happened everyday i responded intelligently by quoting a portion of a famous monologue: you talkin to me? And keeping in line with the cinematic theme came the response loud and clear over my not so expensive middle of the line speakers :"I must be talking to you;you're the only one here " "Who is this? And how can you hear me?"I asked.Without a moments hesitaion came the answer that I was not quite prepared for."I am" came the response, nothing more.I sat there for what seemed to be an eternity |
